1. Walk the ancient Inca Trail & Visit Macu Pichu

 

Stunning Andean scenery, cloud wrapped forests and the mysterious Machu Picchu, the "best preserved Pre-Columbian ruins in the Americas". This epic Inca Trail tour adventure has it all. Day 01 (Thu) LIMA

Arrival and transfer to your hotel. If you arrive early, we can arrange optional tours to museums or to visit the city and surroundings sites.

 

Day 02 (Fri) LIMA - CUSCO

Morning departure for flight to Cusco, center of the Inca Empire. Airport pickup and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax and acclimatize to the altitude (10,856 ft.). (B)

 

Day 03 (Sat) CUSCO

Morning guided walking tour to visit the local markets of Cusco, the colonial Cathedral and Koricancha, the impressive Temple of the Sun. After a break for lunch, we will depart for an afternoon tour of Cusco's temples and visit each distinct Inca sight. The fortress of Sacsayhuaman with its megalithic stone terraces; Kenko, with its carved stone surfaces and subterranean altars; the small fortress of Puka Pukara that protected the royal capital from attacks and the water temple Tambo Machay. Evening briefing session to orient you to the upcoming trek. (B)

 

Day 04 (Sun) CUSCO- SACRED VALLEY

Full day guided excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Here we will visit the picturesque Pisac Market and ruins above it, then continue down the Urubamba Valley. After lunch we reach Ollantaytambo (9,185 ft.), a small town with an impressive Inca fortress. This valley was an important agricultural area in Inca times, as manifested by the many Inca remains dispersed throughout the valley. Overnight in Ollantaytambo. (B,L)

 

Day 05 (Mon) SACRED VALLEY - PAUCARCANCHA

(Camp)

Up early for the morning bus ride to (Km82), where we disembark to begin our trek. After meeting our porters we begin the trek, crossing the Urubamba River by bridge. Continuing on our way along the winding path, between the sloping banks of the Urubamba River, we can observe the Vilcanota mountain ranges and see Mount Veronica (18,745 ft.). Our route takes us through the narrow Cusichaca valley, whose slopes show the clear imprint of an ancient culture and it's agriculture practices. Later we pass the small indigenous community of Huayllabamba (9,025 ft.) to camp in the archaeological zone of Paucarcancha. (B,L,D)

 

Day 06 (Tue) PAUCARCANCHA - LLULLUCHAPAMPA

(Camp)

Along the trail, up this narrow hanging valley, we begin to see a cloud forest that harbors the Queñua tree, a rare forest to be found in the Andes. From here the trail ascends steeply to a large pampa below the first pass, where we camp. Here we have a breathtaking view of Mt. Huayanay. Camp overnight at Llulluchapampa (12,300 ft.). (B,L,D)

 

Day 07 (Wed) LLULLUCHAPAMPA - PHUYUPATAMARCA (Camp)

Physically this is the hardest day of the trek as the trail ascends steeply towards Warmiwañusca pass (13,680 ft.). From the pass, the trail descends to the Pacaymayo River and then climbs slowly up past the ruins of Runkuraqay. From here we cross a lower pass to the ruins of Sayacmarca (12,628 ft.). We continue our way along a marvelous section of Inca engineering to finally reach the beautiful ruins of Phuyupatamarca (12,000 ft.), where we camp. (B,L,D)

 

Day 08 (Thu) PHUYUPATAMARCA - MACHU PICCHU

After continuing along a buttress and passing Phuyupatamarca ruins, the flag stoned trail winds sharply down into the cloud forest to the ruins of Wiñay Wayna (8,855 ft.), located along the same watercourse as Phuyupatamarca, with well restored Inca ruins. After a two-hour walk through a cloud forest covered Inca Trail, we arrive at Machu Picchu (7,800 ft.) through the Intipunku, the door of the sun. Overnight at hotel in nearby Aguas Calientes. Day 09 (Fri) MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO

The whole day can be dedicated to exploring this extraordinary site. Including a visit to Wayna Picchu, the mountain overlooking the ruins. The mid-afternoon train takes us to Poroy, where a private bus is waiting and will transfer us back to Cusco. Transfer to your hotel. (B)

 

Day 10 (Sat) CUSCO - LIMA

Morning transfer to the airport for the return flight to Lima and your connecting international flight (End of Services). Trip Extensions to other regions or Extra Days in Lima or Cusco can also be arranged. (B)

2.  Discover Peru

 

This Peru Tour combines 3 of Peru's best areas, the Desert, the Andes & the Amazon. We start with a tour of the Peruvian Desert coast with it's many cultures, and the opportunity fly over the Nazca lines. Then we continue to the vast Peruvian Amazon and the magnificent Tambopata Candamo Reserve. Finally we head to the Andes and Cusco, the heart of Inca culture. From there we venture forth through the Sacred Valley and beyond to reach the lost citadel of the Inca's, Machu Picchu.

 

Day 01  (Thu)  LIMA

Arrival and transfer to your hotel. If you arrive early, we can arrange optional tours to museums or to visit the city and surroundings sites.

 

Day 02  (Fri)  LIMA - ICA

Early departure to Ica. Our comfortable van will bring you to this desert city traversing various lush valleys that cut through the Atacama desert. Arrival and check-in at your hotel, afternoon optional 50 minute flight over the Nazca Lines ($150). (B)

 

Day 03  (Sat)  ICA - PARACAS - LIMA

After breakfast, the van will take you to the National Reserve of Paracas, the only marine protected area in Peru. A boat ride brings you to the Islas Ballestas, a small group of islands teeming with marine bird life as well as sea lions. Following lunch, we return to Lima and your hotel. (B)

 

Day 04  (Sun)   LIMA - PTO MALDONADO - AMAZON JUNGLE LODGE

Morning transfer to airport for flight to Puerto Maldonado. A one hour motorized canoe ride up the Tambopata River brings us to the lodge to unpack and unwind. We will receive a short welcome orientation and a complete briefing on the lodge and the Ecotourism Project before our afternoon activity: the Canopy Tower, a 115 ft. (35 m) scaffolding tower with spectacular views of the river and the surrounding forest. (B,L,D)

 

Day 05  (Mon)  AMAZON JUNGLE LODGE

We will be up at dawn for a visit to the Tres Chimbadas oxbow lake. After an early breakfast we depart, fifteen minutes from Posada Amazonas by boat and a 30 minute walk take us to the lake shore. From here we take a long, easy canoe ride around it. We will look for giant river otters, turtles, hoatzin, and wading birds. We will return to the lodge's trails in time for a visit to a small parakeet clay lick. Dozens and sometimes hundreds of Parakeets congregate here on clear days to ingest clay. In the afternoon we will visit the community's ethno-botanical center. We will hike the trails around the center with one of the residents who will explain to us the everyday uses of forest resources in medicine, construction, food and fiber. Return to lodge. Day 06  (Tue)  PTO MALDONADO - CUSCO

Early departure down river to Pto. Maldonado. Transfer to airport for short flight to Cusco, center of the Inca Empire. Airport pickup and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon we will depart for an afternoon tour of Cusco's temples and visit each distinct Inca sight. The fortress of Sacsayhuaman with its megalithic stone terraces; Kenko, with its carved stone surfaces and subterranean altars; the small fortress of Puka Pukara that protected the royal capital from attacks and the water temple Tambo Machay. In the late afternoon we transfer back to your comfortable hotel in Cusco. (B)

 

Day 07  (Wed)   CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY

Full day guided excursion to the Sacred Valley, as important today as it was during the reign of the Incas. Here we will visit the picturesque Pisac Market and ruins above it, then continue down the Urubamba Valley. After lunch we reach Ollantaytambo (9,185 ft.), a small town with an impressive Inca fortress. Overnight at a local hotel in Urubamba. (B,L)

 

Day 08  (Thu)  MACHU PICCHU

Early transfer from your hotel to the train station at Ollantaytambo. The scenery during this two-hour ride down the Urubamba gorge changes from mountain vegetation to cloud forest. Arrival at the station and a bus ride will bring you to the mountain citadel of Machu Picchu (7,800 ft.), for a full day guided tour. Afternoon return to nearby Aguas Calientes and overnight at a local hotel. (B)

 

Day 09  (Fri)  MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO

Optional early rise for those who want to experience the serene beauty of Machu Picchu in the morning (great opportunity for crowd less photos). The other option is to sleep in, relax and stay around the village. The mid-afternoon train takes us to Poroy, where a private bus is waiting and will transfer us back to Cusco . Transfer to your hotel. (B)

 

Day 10  (Sat)  CUSCO - OUT

Morning transfer to the airport for the return flight to Lima and your connecting international flight (End of Services). Trip extensions to other regions or extra days in Lima or Cusco can also be arranged. (B)
